BBC Boat Race commentator breaks down in tears and forced to apologise after being overcome with emotion at result

BBC pundit Sebastian Benzecry couldn't contain his emotion after Cambridge powered to victory in the Boat Race.

The three-time boat race champion was part of an elite panel for the Beeb's coverage of the annual Thames sprint.

Benzecry was the former President of Cambridge University Boat Club.

And he broke down in tears live on camera after watching his university pip Oxford to the line.

Wiping away tears, Benzecry said: “Sorry, just amazing to see. This race, sorry, this race is so, so meaningful.

“To see [cox] Ollie Boyne win here today is just the most amazing thing.”

Host Claire Balding later added: “If anyone at home isn't crying now, you're made of steel.”
