Beloved pub to close doors for last time TODAY as locals share heartbreak

LOCALS have shared their devastation as an iconic pub is to close its doors for the last time today.

Cornish country pub Carpenters Arms, in Metherell, is having its final hurrah on Easter Sunday.

A statement posted onby owners of the pub on April 11 read: “It's with a heavy heart that I have decided that Easter Sunday 20th The Carpenter's will be closing its doors at 9pm.

“It will remain closed until sold. Auction on May 8th.

“I would like to thank everyone for the support for my family and myself while we have ran the pub.

“We will be going out with a big party on Easter Saturday starting at 6pm.”

Locals were quick to chime in and share their heartbreak over the.

One upset punter wrote:“So sorry to hear this sweetheart. You have put so much blood, sweat and tears into the Carps. Wishing you all the best for the auction.”

While a second loyal customer said: “Thanks for all the lovely pints and food you have kept us singing with.”

Another added: “Thanks for your kind, warm hosting service with a smile.”

A fourth said: “Sorry to read this. I’ve only been a few times and each time had a blast! Lovely venue, special, fun and filled with lovely people.”
