No fewer than 11 bodies have been so far recovered following Tuesday night’s deadly attack on Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

DAILY POS earlier reported that suspected armed herdsmen, in their numbers, stormed the community around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, opening fire on residents and burning homes.

The attack reportedly lasted over three hours without any security intervention.

Confirming the development, the lawmaker representing Otukpo/Akpa State Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Agbo Kennedy, told Channels TV’s Morning Brief on Wednesday that 11 bodies have so far been recovered, with search operations still ongoing.

He described the incident as horrific, adding that many parts of the community had been deserted after the attackers overwhelmed local residents.

“The situation in Otobi-Akpa, particularly this morning, is very appalling and gory,”; Agbo lamented.

“You see pictures of five-year-olds, ten-year-olds killed and macheted badly. Adults, aged people, women, all slaughtered. And this happened before the intervention of security forces, including the police, military, and local vigilantes.”;

The lawmaker disclosed that one more corpse was found on Wednsday morning, raising the death toll to 11.

“That’s how terrible the situation is in Otobi. We’re calling on the President, the Inspector General of Police, and all relevant authorities to come to our aid,”; he appealed.
