The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has declared Thursday, Friday and Monday as work-free days across the state to celebrate the Easter season.

The announcement, made in a public statement from the Government House in Makurdi, is aimed at allowing civil servants and residents of the state to fully partake in the Easter Triduum, a period of deep spiritual reflection and celebration for the Christian community.

Governor Alia, a Catholic priest-turned-politician, acknowledged the importance of the Easter period in the lives of Christians, describing it as a time of renewal, sacrifice, and hope. He noted that the decision to declare the holidays reflects the state government’s respect for religious values and its desire to promote the spiritual wellbeing of its citizens.

“All government offices, ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) will remain closed on these days,”; the announcement read.

“We encourage our citizens to use this time to reflect on the essence of the season, reconnect with family, and recharge physically and spiritually.”;

The Governor extended heartfelt Easter wishes to all Christians in Benue State and beyond, praying that the celebrations bring peace, joy, and a renewed commitment to faith, unity, and community service.
