The UK’s best campsites revealed with flawless 10/10 reviews, honesty shops & even resident deer

Published on March 31, 2025 at 02:49 PM

ACROSS the UK there are thousands of camping and glamping spots – but these are the best.

Pitchup.com has awarded ‘gold status' to 26 of their sites around the UK which have all been rated 10/10 in every one of their reviews last year, so they really are guest approved.

Among the 26 best camping and glamping sites is Pear Tree Cottage at Poplar Farm.

Found in Lincolnshire, the site has spacious pitches very near the sea and Lincolnshire Wolds.

It's a small site of two acres, but its close proximity to Mablethorpe, Ingoldmells, Skegness, and Huttoft makes it a sought-after location.

In the North Yorkshire Dales is Draughton Heights which is very popular with hikers and has received a 251 reviews – all of which are 10/10.

The site is less than an hour from Leeds and is close to Skipton too.

It is not just tents and caravans though, Draughton Heights also has camping pods which are equipped with beds, a kitchenette and bathroom.

One guest who stayed in the camping pod wrote in their shining review: “The attention to detail, everything was fresh and clean, the views were insane and the owners were so lovely and friendly.”

The entire site is set around three huge lakes, which attract local wildlife including deer, owls, and other birdlife—so the views are almost unbeatable.

Further south is Combas Farm in Devon which is close to two beautiful stretches of coastline, Croyde Beach and Woolacombe Sands.

Across four fields, they offer spaces for non-electric grass tents, campervans, or trailers from £32 per night.

Some even have little glamping cabins

And Combas Farm is a place that attracts happy visitors year after year.

One guest wrote: “We returned here after a great stay last year and were able to stay in the top field again where you have spectacular views. Hoping to return next year for our Devon fix!”

Visitors remain impressed with the hosts too, as the words ‘friendly' and ‘helpful' crop up repeatedly in reviews.

There are also frequent mentions of their facilities with hot showers, compostable toilets and a dry room for surfers' wetsuits.

Over in Powys, Wales, is the Sychpwll Centre, an eco-friendly campsite. One reviewer liked that aspect and added that “everything that's considered junk had a purpose.”

It's also a great place to visit local farmers' markets or Lake Vrynwy, where there are lots of activities, from climbing, fishing, and horse riding to watersports.

Sunnyside Campsite near Halesworth on the Suffolk Coast, is a destination Pitchup describes as a ‘simple hideaway'.

The site is a 10-minute drive from Halesworth and 20 minutes from Southwold.

On the pretty farm is a pond and a kids’ play area as well as an honesty shop and visiting fresh fish van.

Accommodation includes electric and non-electric pitches and there’s also a ready-erected bell tent for two available to book.

The Woodlands Gardens Caravan site, in the Firth of Forth, near Edinburgh, has wooden camping pods.

Each sleeps two people and has a little private outdoor area which reviewers said had “everything you need for a quiet getaway”.

The pods can be booked from £60 per night.

Fairoak Lakes has hand-built waterside glamping lodges

Another site for fans of glamping is Fairoak Lakes near Chepstow in Monmouthshire.

Even more impressively, the owners built the wooden pods themselves – and named each one after woodland animal.

Each pod is heated and comes with a cosy double bed, and kitchenette with the facilities including hot showers being a short walk away.

The site is set around a lake and is surrounded by 10 acres of woodland, which explains why 94 per cent of visitors described the site as ‘peaceful'.

The pods also have both no-pets and pet-friendly options and can be booked from £85 per night.

Here are some of the most idyllic camping destinations across the UK.

And another award-winning campsite just for adults that was named one of the best in the UK.
