KATY PERRY will blast off into orbit today in what will be the world’s first all-female space mission for more than 60 years.

The pop star is being on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket, which will launch from Texas today.

She will be joined by author Lauren Sanchez, journalist Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Perry has been undergoing last minute preparations before the historic trip – sharing pics and videos on her Instagram.

She said: “I am talking to myself every day and going, ‘You’re brave, you’re bold, you are doing this for the next generation to inspire so many different people but especially young girls to go, ‘I’ll go to space in the future.’ No limitations.”;

Perry’s journey to space will only be brief – with the trip only expected to last around 11 minutes.

The rocket will take off at around 2.30pm UK time today, 8.30am in Texas.
