Body found in hunt for boy, 16, who ‘got into difficulty’ swimming in lake with pals

THE body of a 16-year-old boy who vanished after getting into difficulty while swimming with friends in a lake has been found.

Officers were called to Crown Lakes in Farcet, Peterborough, at 4pm on Thursday, Cambridgeshire Police said.

It is believed the boy, from Peterborough, was swimming in the lake when he got into difficulty.

The force said on Friday that search teams had recovered a body from the lake just before midnight.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “While formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be that of the missing boy and his family have been notified.

“This case will now be handed to the coroner.”
