Bryony Frost: Frodon could fly through the mud at Haydock’s Betfair Chase – we’re not scared of A Plus Tard

Published on November 18, 2022 at 10:00 PM

FRODON and I are off on another adventure!

He’s ten going on 11 as we all know, but you don’t make memories sat at home on the sofa — or in your stable.

Frost and Frodon are a match made in heaven – can they win the Betfair Chase? He’s in super shape at home, he’s come out of his win at Wincanton brilliantly. I’ve only just come down from the high of that day.

Why not have a go? That’s what this sport is all about.

A Plus Tard is a phenomenal horse and a star of the game and you have some other old favourites in there too.

But the Betfair Chase is a big race and you are always going to be up against some smart horses.

Paul Nicholls is a master at picking out and planning these races. It’s why he’s the champ time and time again.

We’ve all been keeping a close eye on the weather forecast all week and I know Haydock has had plenty of rain.

We’ll see what it’s like. Hopefully no more falls. But he’s had another wind op and it will be interesting to see how he gets on with the soft ground.

In his younger days he used to fly through it, so the op might have helped.

Frodon is very happy with himself this season, which is great to see and now I ride him every single morning.

I now know the pressure that comes with being with your horse every day throughout the season. We know each other so well.

This isn’t the first time we’ve been such a big price. We’ve been the underdog before but it hasn’t stopped us.

But I will know our fate on the way to the start, even before the race is off, we know each other that well.

If it’s not our day, so be it, but let’s give it a good go.

I’ll be at Haydock nice and early for the charity race my sponsors Betfair are staging.

It’s for the World Cup and I’m riding one of Paul’s and representing England, so no pressure!

It’s over seven furlongs with no stalls so it is going to be fun whatever happens.

I’ll give it a go, and kick hard for England once the tape drops!

Until next week, stay safe and keep kicking!
