Champions League: Barça to pay English side £10m if they win trophy this season

Published on April 11, 2025 at 12:01 PM

Barcelona will be paying the sum of £10 million to English Championship club Leeds United should they win the Champions League this season.

This was part of the deal that saw Brazilian winger, Raphinha moved from Leeds United to Barcelona in 2022.

The money will be paid to the English side if the winger helps them win Europe's most prestigious club trophy.

Raphinha joined Barcelona for a reported fee of €58 million and after initially struggling to break into the team’s starting XI, he has flipped the narrative this season.

At the moment, the Brazilian is a strong contender for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

And it is also starting to look like Barcelona could win the Champions League this season, having won the first leg their quarter-final clash 4-0 against Borussia Dortmund.

TEAMtalk reports that one of the clauses in Raphinha’s contract is tied directly to the Champions League.

The clause has it that if the Catalan side win the tournament this season, they will have to pay £10 million (€12.5 million) to Leeds.

Raphinha is one of the players who have stood out for the LaLiga giants this season.

The Brazilian leads the goal contributions for this season's Champions League with 12 goals and seven assists.

Across competitions, Raphinha has scored 28 goals and provided 22 assists in 45 games.
