Champions League: Rio Ferdinand picks ‘favourite’ to win trophy ahead of Arsenal

Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand, has named Paris Saint-Germain as the “favourite” to win the Champions League ahead of Arsenal.

Ferdinand was speaking after PSG came from behind to defeat Aston Villa 3-1 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie on Wednesday night.

A day before, Arsenal had thrashed Real Madrid 3-0 at the Emirates and are in a great position to reach the semi-finals.

If Mikel Arteta's manage to knock out the current holders, they will be installed as one of the favourites with the bookmakers to win the trophy.

But Ferdinand feels PSG, who eliminated Liverpool in the previous round, are bigger favourites than Arsenal.

“They played with a real authority tonight,’ Ferdinand told TNT Sports.

“They played like they’ve won this tournament many times before.

“I have them as favourites right now. The way I saw the man-handle Liverpool over two legs and dominate this game here.

“They took this tie away from Aston Villa with that performance. They’re favourites for me.”
