The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday said that China will take resolute and strong measures in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's latest 104% tariffs on imports from China.

Lin Jian, the Ministry spokesperson, insisted that the Chinese government will continue to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people of China.

In response to a media inquiry on the U.S.' 104% tariffs on Chinese goods taking effect on Wednesday, Jian said:

“We'll not let anyone take away the Chinese people's legitimate right to development.
“We'll not tolerate any attempt to harm China's sovereignty, security, and development interests.
“We'll continue to take resolute and strong measures to safeguard our legitimate rights and interests.”

Recall that the White House on Tuesday said as Beijing refuses to withdraw its retaliatory tariffs on United States exports.
