Chinese embassy knocks US treasury secretary for ‘smearing’ China

Published on April 15, 2025 at 05:48 AM

The Chinese embassy in Argentina has lashed out on US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent for maliciously slandering and smearing China for carrying out normal cooperation with other countries.

This was as the embassy expressed strong opposition to Bessent's remarks.

“We advise the US to adjust its mindset, instead of spending time repeatedly smearing and attacking China, meddling in the foreign cooperation of regional countries,” the embassy said.

Bessent had in an interview said that China signed “rapacious deals marked as aid” and “added huge amounts of debt” to Latin American countries' balance sheets.
