AIR fryers have taken the kitchen world by storm thanks to their ability to whip up speedy and often healthier meals compared to traditional methods.
Whether it’s crispy fries or roasted chicken, deliver delicious results with far less oil.

However, the one downside many users face is the dreaded task of cleaning.
Burnt-on grease and stubborn residue can accumulate, leaving you wondering how to tackle the mess without spending hours scrubbing.
Here’s the good news: the team at Lottomart has outlined a simple, affordable solution to the cleaning dilemma that will save you time and energy.
Enter denture tablets.
You might be surprised, but those little tablets designed to clean dentures also work wonders on air fryer grease.
And the best part? These denture tablets, available for just 80p for a pack of 30 from Sainsbury’s or Tesco, make this cleaning hack not only effective but also incredibly budget-friendly, helping you save on cleaning costs.
This means the trick works out at around 3p per go – and will save you lots of time too.
Start by emptying the air fryer basket, removing any leftover food or crumbs.
A quick wipe with a wet paper towel will help get rid of loose debris before you begin the cleaning process.
Next, fill the basket with hot water, ensuring it covers the areas with the most grease build-up.
The hot water will activate the cleaning power of the denture tablet, making the entire process more effective.
Once the water is in, drop one denture tablet, which equates to just under 3p per use, into the basket. As soon as the tablet hits the water, it will start to fizz, breaking down the grease and grime.
Allow the tablet to dissolve and sit for 15 to 20 minutes.
The fizzy action will work to loosen even the toughest residue, making it much easier to clean.
After the tablet has dissolved, gently wipe away the loosened grease with a sponge or soft cloth. Most of the residue will come away effortlessly, with little to no scrubbing needed.

For any stubborn spots, a bit of extra rubbing should do the trick.
Finally, rinse the basket under warm water to remove any remaining tablet residue, and dry it thoroughly with a clean towel. Your air fryer will then be sparkling clean and ready for the next use!
A spokesperson for Lottomart, who has recommended this tried-and-tested trick, said the following: “These fizzing tablets are typically used for cleaning dentures, but they are packed with powerful ingredients like peroxide, oxidisers, baking soda, and washing soda.
“These all work together to break down the stubborn grime when mixed with warm water; the effervescent fizz acts as a catalyst, loosening grease and residue, making it much easier to wipe away!”;
