Copa del Rey: Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham caught acussing referee of favouring Barcelona

Published on April 27, 2025 at 09:28 AM

Real Madrid midfielder, Jude Bellingham, was caught accusing the referee, Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea of favouring Barcelona during his side's Copa del Rey final defeat on Saturday night.

Jules Kounde’s goal in extra time gave Barcelona a 3-2 victory against Carlo Ancelotti's side at the Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville.

Following Kounde’s goal, tensions boiled over shortly before the full time whistle with Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger now facing a severe punishment for throwing an ice cube at De Burgos Bengoetxea.

However, as the players headed down the tunnel for the half-time break, Bellingham was caught by television cameras tearing into De Burgos Bengoetxea and his fellow match officials.

“Make him understand, everything is going their [Barcelona’s] way, everything 50-50 goes their way,” Bellingham was heard telling the referee while he was being led away by Real Madrid captain Lucas Vazquez.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s treatment towards referees in Spain was the focal point in the build up to the Copa del Rey final.

De Burgos Bengoetxea broke down in tears during the officials’ pre-match press conference on Friday.

But Real Madrid will be under scrutiny once again following their conduct towards the match officials during their defeat to Barcelona.
