The Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos State, has scheduled April 24 for judgment in the case of Adeniyi Bashiru, who pleaded guilty to charges of stealing school property valued at over N1.1 million.

Bashiru was arraigned on a one-count charge of theft brought against him by the police.

During the proceedings, Police Prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, informed the court that the offence took place around midnight on March 27.

According to the prosecution, the defendant unlawfully entered the school premises and stole 20 aluminum roofing sheets valued at N300,000, seven ceiling fans worth N380,000, and a central processing unit (CPU) of a computer system valued at N420,000.

The items were said to belong to one Margaret Adasa, the complainant in the case.

Presiding Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, ordered Bashiru’s remand at the Awhajigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry and adjourned the matter to April 24 for review of the case facts and sentencing.
