A MAJOR A-road used by thousands has been closed after a crash as drivers have been forced to take “alternative routes”.

The A469 News Road in Cefn Hengoed, Swansey is closed both ways – from Hengoed Avenue to Beatty Street – after emergency services were called to deal with a road traffic collision.

Diversions are in place and Gwent Police have urged motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes for their journey.

Posting on X, Gwent Police said: “The road is currently closed, and diversions are in place. Please avoid the area and find alternative routes for your journey. Thank you.”
