DOGE: Elon Musk told to leave Trump govt, focus on Tesla

Published on April 22, 2025 at 01:31 PM

The global head of technology research at Wedbush Securities, Dan Ives, has called on Tesla CEO, Elon Musk to leave the US President Donald Trump administration.

In a post on his X account, Ives urged Musk to get back to being CEO of Tesla full-time.

Ives' comments follows the electric vehicle maker’s first quarter, Q1 earnings released on Tuesday.

“We believe Tesla along with Nvidia are two of the most disruptive technology companies on the globe over the coming years,” Ives wrote.

“BUT….Musk needs to leave the govt, take a step back on DOGE, and get back to being CEO of Tesla full-time in our view. Big earnings call for Musk Tuesday.”

Musk is currently leading the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE.

He has been leading cost-cutting efforts at the White House DOGE office in the present US government.

The 53-year-old billionaire has reportedly faced criticism for his increased involvement in the Trump administration and overlooking Tesla.

According to reports, Tesla investors are frustrated with Musk’s behavior since taking on the DOGE role given to him by President Trump.

Tesla has been grappling with multiple challenges in both China and the US in recent times.

Earlier this month, Musk’s electric car company, Tesla, suspended new orders for its Model S and Model X vehicles on its Chinese website.

In China, Tesla is under pressure from fast-growing domestic competitors such as BYD, which continues to report strong growth.
