Two in five drivers say they’ve been hit by potholes that bring shame to the UK’s roads

NEARLY two in five drivers have had a run-in with a pothole, a survey found.

And 61 per cent believe the roads they use every day are in a shocking state.

It comes as the RAC predicts 19million getaways will clog up motorways this weekend in the busiest Easter since 2022.

The Sevanta poll revealed that 72 per cent of drivers in the East of say their roads are falling apart.

The South West and South East are not far behind, with 71 per cent slamming the state of their local streets.

In the East Midlands, 69 per cent think the roads are bad — and more than a third say they are very bad.

The Lib Dems want urgent action, calling for long-term repairs, more council cash and smarter spending.
