EPL: Chelsea’s win over Everton keeps Champions League hopes alive

Published on April 26, 2025 at 03:48 PM

Nicolas Jackson scored the only goal as Chelsea beat Everton 1-0 in Saturday's early kick-off.

The result saw Enzo Maresca's men climb into fourth place behind Manchester City.

Jackson picked up the ball from Enzo Maresca and fired into Jordan Pickford's bottom corner in the first half.

It was the Senegal striker's first goal in four months.

The Blues should have scored more but were repelled by a stubborn defence and Pickford, who kept out a series of shots, notably from Noni Madueke.

Cole Palmer also failed to end his three-month goal drought as the home side endured a tense final 15 minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea now have 60 points, one point behind City who are in FA Cup action this weekend. Everton are 13th.

The Premier League's top five teams will qualify for the Champions League this season.
