EPL: Guardiola reacts as Liverpool ends Man City’s title run

Published on April 28, 2025 at 06:21 AM

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has sent his congratulations to Liverpool after they ended his team's run of four successive Premier League titles on Sunday.

Arne Slot has won the English's topflight in his first season after replacing Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 in front of a boisterous Anfield to be confirmed champions.

Guardiola’s team won the title in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

City clinched last season’s trophy after a tough battle with Arsenal.

However, this season, City suffered a dip and are currently sitting fourth in the table.

Speaking after their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-final, Guardiola sent a classy message to Arne Slot’s side.

He said: “Before we start, on behalf of myself and the club we want to congratulate Liverpool for their Premier League victory.

“Well deserved, no doubt about that, a fantastic team. Give me one year, like it happened the last four years and hopefully next season we can do better and compete until the end of the season. Liverpool, congratulations.”
