EPL: He’ll score more goals – Baptista tells Arteta striker to sign for Arsenal

Published on April 21, 2025 at 08:16 PM

Former Arsenal star Julio Baptista has urged manager Mikel Arteta to consider signing Wolves striker Matheus Cunha for the Gunners in the summer transfer window.

Baptista believes the 25-year-old would score more goals for Arteta's side.

Cunha has been impressive for Wolves this season, scoring 16 goals and registering four assists in 31 appearances across all competitions.

The Brazilian joined Wolves for a reported €50 million from Atlético Madrid in 2023.

Speaking with Football Italia (h/t Caught Offside), Baptista said: “People talk about Matheus Cunha, the Brazilian. He is done incredible stuff at Wolves, so maybe he’s the player that Arsenal need.

“They need to take a look at him, I think. Cunha should definitely be on their shortlist. He has performed brilliantly in a team that has found life difficult at times this season, so you would think that at Arsenal, he would score even more goals given the chances that they create and the way they dominate most games. He would also be playing with better players.”
