EPL: He’s trying – Amorim singles out one Man Utd player after Nottingham defeat

Published on April 02, 2025 at 06:14 AM

Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim has defended Alejandro Garnacho after his side's Premier League 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Amorim said the Argentina winger is ‘trying too much’ after the player's frustrating display in the defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Man United registered 24 shots on target against the hosts but failed to score.

Garnacho had more shots on goal than any other Red Devils player on the pitch with six attempts in total.

His dribbling also let him down as Anthony Elanga, a former Man United winger sold in 2023, scored the game’s only goal with a sublime individual effort at the City Ground.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Amorim said of Garnacho: “He is trying. Sometimes you have one day when you are doing the right things but in the final third we were not that good and that can happen.”

He added, “The most important thing in the game is when he needs to run back he is running back.

“Of course we want a player who is one against one, sometimes he is trying too much, he has Dorgu to make a movement but I think he wants to help the team and is doing the best.”

Garnacho has scored eight goals and registered eight assists in all competitions for United this season.
