EPL: Salah signed new deal because of more money – Liverpool manager, Arne Slot

Published on April 11, 2025 at 12:03 PM

Liverpool manager, Arne Slot has teased that money played a role in the Premier League retaining the services of Mohamed Salah.

Earlier on Friday, the Reds announced that the Egypt winger has signed a two-year extension at Anfield.

Salah was into the final few months of his deal before agreeing fresh terms.

The 32-year-old was set to become a free agent in June, with speculations linking him to Saudi Arabia.

When asked about the role that he played, as manager, in convincing Salah to stay put, Slot said: “I am part of the process but I don't deserve the compliments, it's Mo, his agent and then FSG, Richard (Hughes), they all put the effort, which means money!”;

After laughing at his remark, he added: “But also effort. What it might tell you is that it is not only a good season now we want more next season and Mo is convinced we can do so. So that is positive for us.”
