EPL table: Chelsea climbs back into fourth place with narrow win over Tottenham

Published on April 04, 2025 at 05:16 AM

Chelsea are back in fourth place, thanks to a narrow 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

The Blues had dropped into sixth place after Manchester City beat Leicester City and Newcastle also eged Brentford.

Enzo Fernandez scored the only goal at Stamford Bridge, as Enzo Maresca's men piled pressure on beleaguered Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou on Thursday.

Fernandez’s thumping header early in the second half settled what was a bruising London derby.

Chelsea’s response lifted them one point clear of fifth-placed City and two ahead of sixth-placed Newcastle.

The top four are guaranteed to reach the Champions League, with the fifth also likely to secure a place depending on the results of the English clubs left in European competitions this season.
