EPL: Van Dijk names team that ‘truly deserve’ to be champions after Liverpool win title

Published on April 28, 2025 at 05:27 AM

Liverpool captain, Virgil van Dijk, has said that the team “truly deserve” to be Premier League champions.

Van Dijk also said winning the Premier League title is an achievement the Merseyside club would never take for granted.

The Dutch defender was speaking after the Reds thrashed Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 to clinch a 20th top-flight crown at Anfield.

This result gives Liverpool an unassailable 15-point lead over second-placed Arsenal with four games left.

“It’s special, and it’s something that we don’t take for granted. It’s amazing what today was,”; van Dijk told Sky Sports.

“A lot of emotions before the game, during the whole week. We got the job done, and we truly deserve to be champions of England.

“[It’s] the most beautiful club in the world. I think we deserve all of this. Let’s enjoy the next couple of weeks and let it sink in.”;
