Europe is over regulated – Elon Musk laments difficulty in business

Published on April 05, 2025 at 06:46 PM

Tech billionaire Elon Musk says too many rules and regulations in Europe are making business difficult.

The head of President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, made the claim on Saturday during an interview on Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini's program.

Musk urged Europe to consider embarking on radical deregulation, saying such moves are necessary for the continent.

He said, “Europe is overregulated. There are too many rules and regulations that make it very difficult to create a company and be successful.

“So I think radical deregulation is necessary in Europe. And if that means leaving the EU, it means leaving the EU.

“The regulatory situation in Europe is stifling, and Brussels is amplifying it greatly. You have both the local regulations, the country regulations, and then you have the EU regulations.”
