Eve Mattress review: I tried the Wunderflip Premium Hybrid now slashed by 50% with a super king at just £599

Published on April 04, 2025 at 11:59 AM

EVE SLEEP is a self-professed pioneer of the online mattress business, having launched in 2015 to help shoppers find their perfect mattress online.

I know finding the best mattress to buy can be a minefield — in my Eve Sleep mattress review, I've found out if the Wunderflip Ultimate Hybrid is worth forking out for.

I've been testing the Wunderflip for over a month

Pros:

  • Gives you control over firmness
  • Thoughtful design
  • Great delivery experience
  • Comfortable if you sleep on your front, back or side
  • 200-night trial
  • Informative website
  • Easy installation

Cons:

  • I can’t think of one, okay?! Maybe the price?

Rating: 9.5/10

How I tested the Eve Sleep Wunderflip Premium Hybrid sleep mattress

Having always settled for basic, no-frills mattresses, I was curious to see if a premium-priced mattress would actually make a noticeable difference to my sleep.

For well over a month now, I’ve been testing it rigorously through the ups and downs of daily (or rather, nightly) life.

As a combination sleeper (side, front, back — the lot), I gave it a thorough workout, while my husband, who suffers from frequent back pain, added his two pence.

This mattress was put to the test, from long nights to quick naps.

It also compared against a mattress from a recent trip away.

So, is it worth the price tag?

Eve Sleep Wunderflip Premium Hybrid sleep mattress review: Quickfire Q&A

How much is Eve Sleep Wunderflip Premium Hybrid sleep mattress Look, it is spenny, so brace yourself… the price tag for this mattress is £999, but I can vouch on its behalf — this is the only bad thing about it. Eve also has a fun “Negotiate” feature which allows you to get this price down.

Who’s it best for? As a combination sleeper (I wriggle between by front, back and side), I loved it, so if you tend to toss from side to side in search of comfort, this could be a great option for you. Every position felt supported.

What we loved: The comfort layer, which is unzippable (the novelty is not lost on me); you can customise this mattress to your desired firmness and I think that is a great, unique selling-point. You basically get two mattresses for the price of one.

What we didn’t: The price. It isolates shoppers who would really benefit from this mattress, but cannot afford something of this price point. Eve does offer finance options, but I'm always uneasy recommending these.

First impressions

Delivery was super easy — a muscular gentleman handled the hard work for us

I would easily drop a pretty penny on duvets and bedding sets, but when it came to mattresses, I've always been reluctant (apologies to my back).

I was a cynic — I saw the price and marketing lingo and naively let my uneducated opinion get the better of me.

I’m a changed woman now; eye-watering price-tag aside.

Definitely leave a full day for the Wunderflip Premium Hybrid to expand properly before impatiently swaddling it in your bedding.

I scolded my husband for laying on it as soon as it was opened.

From the ease of its arrival (thank you to the burly delivery man that made it look lighter than its actual weight) to the easy instructions ensuring it was installed properly, the delivery experience and installation was a dream.

And don’t get me started on actually sleeping on it...

Does it deliver?

“I wanted to find fault in this mattress, but the reality is that I loved it”

I wanted to find fault in this mattress, but the reality is that I loved it.

A novelty I appreciated was the unzippable comfort layer.

The clue is in the name, but Eve’s Wunderflip Premium Hybrid mattress allows you to flip the mattress to give you the most comfort.

There is a firm side and a soft side, and by using the handles along the edge of the mattress, you can switch between the two

I would recommend an extra pair of hands to help you with this, because mattresses are notoriously awkward to handle.

Using the bright yellow zip tracks along the edge of the mattress, you can re-zip the comfort layer back onto the side you want to sleep on.

I won’t go into too much detail on the tech, but there are 10 layers to this mattress, all expertly outlined on Eve Sleep’s website.

However, it was noticeably more comfortable and supportive than any mattress I've slept on to date.

Bold claim? I think not. I spent two nights away in a hotel, and spent each night pining to return to the comfort of this mattress.

I am a side, back, front sleeper and with previous mattresses the movement has disturbed my husband’s sleep.

This one sucks up the movement, leaving my husband undisturbed.

And despite my husband not being Flying Eze’s reviewer here, he does suffer from a bad back, and while he won’t claim this mattress cured his back troubles, he did feel supported, aiding his recovery.

He went on to say that this mattress didn’t add to his back troubles and allowed him to rest in comfort. Win win!

There's no getting around it — this mattress is pricey

There's no beating around the bush here — you’re going to be dropping a pretty penny for this mattress.

Eve Sleep does offer £25 off if you sign up to their newsletter, and does regularly offer deals – however, a double mattress will set you back £999.

It's currently reduced at Benson's for Beds, at £799.

Ever the optimist, however, I've done a bit of girl math.

The nightly cost of sleeping on this mattress for a year is £2.73.

The nightly cost of sleeping on this mattress for eight years — the average time a well-cared-for mattress lasts before it needs replacing — is 34p.

This brings me to a very cool feature — Eve has partnered with Nibble, an AI tool that allows you to negotiate the price of your mattress.

Nibble allows you to haggle the price of your mattress

When I tried, I managed to haggle it down to 15% off — which, in the case of this mattress, is a £150 saving. A better negotiator might even be able to do better.

There are also finance options available via Eve’s website, although I'd always approach these with caution.

Also, you can technically try before you buy as the mattress retailer offers a 200-night trial.

Where to buy the Wunderflip Premium Hybrid Mattress

Although it's previously been stocked at Bensons for Beds (which owns Eve Sleep), the Wunderflip Premium Hybrid Mattress is currently only available to buy on Eve's website.

Eve Wunderflip Premium Hybrid Mattress alternatives

I can only vouch for the Eve Wunderflip Premium Hybrid Mattress for comfort.

However, there is no shortage of mattress brands.

Bed-in-a-box brands like Simba, Panda, Emma and OTTY are great names to check out.

But, mattress retailers like Benson for Beds, Argos, and Dunelm offer a broader range with a price point to suit all shoppers.

If you're keen to do your research before buying, the Sun Shopping team have tried and tested the you can buy in 2025.
