Ex-Chelsea manager, Graham Potter turns down new coaching job

Former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter has turned down the chance to coach the Sweden national team with his focus on returning to club management.

Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea in September 2022 after leaving Brighton.

The Englishman was dismissed just seven months into his five-year contract at Chelsea after winning only seven of his 22 Premier League matches in charge of the west London club.

He is still to return to management but was shortlisted for the Sweden job with current head coach Janne Andersson leaving the role this week after failing to secure qualification for next summer’s European Championship in Germany.

Swedish FA secretary general Andrea Mollerberg had revealed last month that Potter was one of the names under consideration.

But according to Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the 48-year-old has turned down the opportunity to be considered for the role.

Potter reportedly indicated that his preference is to return to club football in the nearest future.
