FCT Police launches investigation into fatal train accident in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command says it is investigating a fatal train accident that claimed the life of an unidentified woman along the Gwagwa-Idu railway line.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh said the incident occurred on Monday, March 24, 2025,

She stated that the Police responded to a distress call reporting an unconscious woman on the railway tracks behind Zeberced Company, Idu.

Upon arrival at the incident scene, she said officers found a lifeless and disfigured female body, believed to have been struck by a train.

Josephine said the remains were immediately evacuated to Kubwa General Hospital, where her death was confirmed.

Efforts are ongoing to identify her and locate her relatives.

“The Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, DCP Isyaku Sharu, urges residents to exercise caution around railway lines and adhere to safety regulations.

“Anyone with useful information should contact the police”, the statement added.
