Five arrested for allegedly vandalising school property in Kano

Operatives from the Kano command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have apprehended five individuals suspected of vandalism in the state.

According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, three of the suspects—Abdulbasi Usman (19), Yahaya Isa (20), and Abubakar Sadiq Abdullahi (20)—are all residents of Unguwar Rimi in the Kumbotso Local Government Area, while the fourth suspect, Adamu Murtala (20), hails from Unguwa Uku in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State.

The suspects are accused of vandalizing and stealing various properties from Government Secondary School Unguwar Rimi and GSS Unguwa Uku in Tarauni LGA. Items stolen from the schools include roofing sheets, iron rods, iron buckets, 20 three-seater cushion chairs, mats, seven windows, two ceiling fans, as well as teaching and learning materials.

Additionally, the statement revealed that Alasan Inusa (17), a resident of Gidan Tela in PRP Dambatta Local Government Area, was arrested for his involvement in vandalizing and stealing equipment from an electric pole. The stolen exhibits recovered from Inusa include six insulators and aluminum cable, among other items.
