Interior Expert Monika Puccio fromSofa Clubexplained the best course of action to take to tackle these stains.
“It’s every homeowner's worst nightmare to encounter stains on the sofa, especially for those with lighter fabrics, where staining is more pronounced,” she said.
“With such an emphasis on chocolate during this season, the chances of stains are particularly high, especially for those with younger children.
“Fear not, though; quick intervention and everyday household products can come to your rescue, bringing your sofa back to life.”
First, she broke down the best technique to use for those with fabric sofas.
“Allow the chocolate time to harden, using an ice pack if needed, and gently scrape the excess chocolate with a blunt knife,” the pro explained.
“Take a cloth with a dab of mild detergent and warm water, and this should lift the stain.”
Monika pointed out that leather sofas are a lot easier to clean due to their composition.
“Simply remove the hardened chocolate carefully, and then clean the area with a leather-safe cleaning solution,” she advised.
And if you're someone who prefers to be proactive, you can get a head start on preventing stains this Easter.
“To help people breathe a little easier this Easter, I would recommend using a blanket on the sofa or purchasing a washable slipcover,” she suggested.
“Not only can blankets be used to protect your space, but they can also work to bring texture into your space and make it look even more inviting and cosy.”
Monika also recommended stocking up cleaning caddies, a move which should be done as soon as possible as majority of the shops across England and Wales prepare to pull their shutters for Easter.
“Ensuring you have the relevant stain-removal products or household essentials to hand is paramount to preventing long-term staining,” she said.
