The authorities of the Edo State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, and that of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have deployed no fewer than 2 300 personnel across the state for the Easter celebration.

DAILY POST reports that the State Sector Commander of FRSC and Cyril Mathew, the Commandant of NSCDC in the State counterpart, Agun Gbenga, disclosed this in a separate statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Benin City.

The officers gave the breakdown of personnel deployed by each of the agencies to include 950 from the FRSC and 1,300 by the NSCDC.

The security agencies said the deployment was to ensure a hitch-free Easter celebration in the state.

The FRSC Sector Commander said the officers to deploy to the state include 513 regular marshalls and 437 Special marshals.

He said the command would also set up mobile courts in the three senatorial districts of the state.

He said besides the deployment of personnel, the command also deployed three patrol vans, 18 vehicles, two trucks, five vehicles, three ambulances, and two power bikes.

Mathew said the deployments and the mobile court were aimed at ensuring safety and reducing crashes during the celebration.

He, however, enjoined drivers and other road users to adhere strictly to road traffic rules and regulations to avoid road crashes.

He explained that the special patrol team would be on the road controlling traffic from April 18 to 23, 2025, ensuring that all parts of the state are covered.

On its part, the NSCDC Commandant, Gbenga Adun, opined that the deployment of the 1,350 personnel would provide Maximum Security at various places of worship, monuments, and recreational centers across the state during the festival.

A statement signed by Ogbebor Efosa, Head of Public Relations and Media Unit of the State Command, said the command had expanded its Intelligence network with the view to nip in the bud any security threat in the state during the period.

The Commandant, however, assured the people of the state that the security of the lives and property of residents of the state before, during, and after the festival celebration remained the priority of the command.

He said the state Commandant had directed all commanders, heads of tactical units, area commanders, and divisional officers to ensure a crime-free, secured celebration before, during, and after the Easter festival.

He appealed to members of the public to give maximum cooperation to the personnel as well as support them with useful information on criminal elements.

Agun further advised residents in the state to allow peace to reign and support the State Government in developing the state as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
