Horse racing legend arrested after crashing car into tree and failing to provide breath test

A JOCKEY was arrested after crashing his car into a tree and failing to provide a breath test.

A woman passenger in her 20s was taken to hospital in the early hours of Sunday with “serious”; spinal injuries and remained under medical care last night.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was treated for minor injuries.

He had been at the wheel of a grey A Class in Hermitage, .

He was held on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to provide specimen for analysis, and kept in custody overnight.

He was freed on bail but banned from contacting the woman.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

The jockey declined to comment yesterday.
