I’m very disappointed – Ian Wright refuses to accept Eni Aluko’s apology

Published on April 26, 2025 at 08:03 PM

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said he will not accept Eni Aluko's apology.

Aluko, speaking on BBC Radio Four's Women's Hour, claimed Wright was “blocking” opportunities for female pundits.

She also accused Wright of “dominating” coverage of women's football.

Later in the week, Aluko tendered an apology to the veteran pundit and hailed him as a “brilliant broadcaster and a role model.”

However, following her apology, Wright took to social media to address the issue and expressed his disappointment.

In a video posted on Instagram, he said: “I've got to say, I'm very disappointed about what Eni has said. She knows how I've helped her, supported her publicly, and I know the previous conversations she's had with me and my management.

“I've seen the apology on social media, but I can't accept it, but I also want to move on.”
