Israeli fighter jets strike military sites in Syria

Published on April 02, 2025 at 08:15 PM

Israeli fighter jets on Wednesday carried out strikes on military sites in the Syrian cities of Damascus and Hama, the Syrian news agency, SANA, reports.

The strikes targeted the Barzah Scientific Research Facility in Damascus, as well as Hama Air Base and the T-4 Air Base in the Homs Governorate.

“An Israeli occupation airstrike targeted the vicinity of the building of the scientific research centre in the Barzeh residential district of Damascus,”;; the report stated.

In a separate attack, airstrikes hit the vicinity of Hama city in central Syria.

According to the report, no casualties or property damage have been reported.

DAILY POST reports that Israel expanded its occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights by seizing the demilitarised buffer zone after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime in December.

The move is said to be a violation of the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria.

Israel also took advantage of the regime's fall to launch hundreds of strikes targeting military sites and assets across Syria, including fighter jets, missile systems, and air defence installations, according to reports.
