Jigawa fixes date for pensioners’ verification

Published on April 30, 2025 at 06:43 AM

The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board has fixed Monday, May 5, 2025, for the commencement of the verification exercise for pensioners enrolled in the scheme.

State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Pension House on Tuesday.

He said the exercise is not to victimise or witch-hunt any pensioner, but rather to maintain an updated payroll system, rectify minor irregularities that have developed over the past three years, and enhance the accuracy of the pensioners’ payroll.

He explained that the initiative aligns with the current administration’s commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in governance, and it also provides an opportunity for pensioners to correct any missing information on their pay slips.

Speaking at the meeting, State Accountant General, Alhaji Abdullahi S.G., called on all pensioners from the state and local government to participate in the verification exercise on the specified date as outlined in the exercise itinerary.

The Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Alhaji Umar Sani Babura, pledged the union’s full support to ensure the success of this initiative.
