The Kaduna State government has refuted what it called “misinformation regarding alleged bomb explosion at Josawa road, Aakpa, Kaduna North local government area of the state”.
A statement on Wednesday, issued by the state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, James A. Kanyip, said, “This is to inform the general public and citizens of the State that the incident reported on the above subject was exaggerated and completely false.
“The suspected blast which occurred on 22d April, 2025 claimed the life of a 12 – year old boy and leaving 7 other persons injured by pallets of the blast. The incident was, however, confirmed by experts (anti-bomb squad) to be accidental discharge of a locally made gun (dane gun) that generated fear and tension in people living in the area, hence the spread of the false rumour.”
He further explained that the heads of security agencies comprising the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Service, Nigeria Army as well as the Local Government Council Chairman had visited and assessed the scene in order to ascertain the actual cause of the incident.
While investigation into the matter remains ongoing, the Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, on behalf of the State Government, enjoined everyone to go about their normal business and be assured of the Government's commitment towards ensuring sustainable peace, security and harmonious co-existence of citizens in the state.
