Kaduna govt revokes property in legacy schools

Published on April 23, 2025 at 09:37 AM

The Kaduna State Government has announced the revocation of all sales and allocations of institutional houses within major legacy schools across the state, in a move aimed at reclaiming public educational spaces and strengthening infrastructure.

The directive, disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr AbdulKadir Mayere, affects Alhuda-Huda College in Zaria, Queen Amina College in Kaduna, and Government Commercial College, also in Zaria.

According to Dr Mayere, the decision—approved since 2023—was made to “protect public interest and ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning.”;

“The government has begun the process of refunding payments made by allottees in respect of the revoked property sales,”; the statement said.

Dr Mayere noted that the revocation of land allocations reflects the government’s resolve to safeguard schools from encroachment and misuse, reinforcing the state’s long-term vision for education as a tool for social mobility and economic empowerment.
