Katsina: Armed bandits kill 3 community guards near FUDMA

Published on April 17, 2025 at 07:49 PM

Three members of a local community watch group were killed on Wednesday in an ambush by suspected armed bandits in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The tragic incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. near Karo village, behind the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) permanent site, while the victims were on a routine patrol.

The slain watchmen; Bashir Abdussalam, 40; Halluru Bishir, 43; and Sani Bala, 49 — were all from Makera village in Dutsinma LGA.

They reportedly sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were rushed to the General Hospital Dutsinma, where they were later confirmed dead.

Community watch groups have played a crucial role in supporting formal security agencies by providing local intelligence and helping to secure vulnerable rural areas across the state.
