Kebbi now Nigeria’s new food basket – NWDC Chairman, Yakawada

Chairman of the North West Development Commission (NWDC), Alhaji Lawal Ismail-Yakawada, has described Kebbi State as Nigeria’s new food basket.

Before now, Benue State was regarded as the food basket of the nation.

However, speaking during a visit by a delegation from the Commission to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Yakawada highlighted Kebbi State's critical role in national food production, citing its vast agricultural resources.

“The delegation's visit aims to seek the governor’s support and strengthen the Commission's partnership with the state government,”; Yakawada said.

He went on to praise Kebbi for its strategic position in the country’s food production sector and assured that the NWDC is committed to complementing the state’s efforts in unlocking more opportunities for agricultural growth.

“Kebbi has become the food basket of the nation due to its immense agricultural resources,”; Yakawada remarked.

“We are proud to partner with you to unlock more opportunities in this sector.”;

Speaking earlier, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
