Kwara State Government has warned all commercial road transporters to stay off the road sides and illegal motor parks or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.

State Commissioner for Transportation, Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, gave the warning during the joint team inspection exercise with the state Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) and Kwara Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA), in Ilorin metropolis.

The Commissioner harped on the importance of well coordinated motor parks to ensure the safety of Kwarans and complement the state governor's agenda of rebranding the traffic management system of the state to meet evolving global standards.

The exercise, which covered major areas, including Post-Office, Challenge, Offa Garage, Adisco and Baba Ode – Ita-Elepa axis, in the metropolis is part of the government’s efforts to rid the state of unauthorized motor parks and enforce transport regulations more effectively.

Korasabi advised commuters on security consciousness and appealed to them to only patronize government-approved motor parks, where vehicle documentation, operational standards are strictly monitored and enforced.

The Commissioner further revealed that work was ongoing towards having an accurate database of all recognized motor parks across the state in a bid to strengthen security and enhance smooth coordination of the transport system for the state.
