With again this weekend, and blue skies looking like they're here to stay, many of us are donning our gloves, and .

However, after a long and harsh , Britons may have begun to notice that their are in need of a bit of TLC.
With this in mind, Lindsey Hyland, the Founder of Urban Organic Yield, has revealed a simple trick to get your grass in tip top share again – and it won't break the bank.
According to the expert, placing sugar on your lawn can improve its by breaking down thatch and getting rid of moss and weeds.
She explained: “Sugar will help break down thatch, the layer of dead grass, and other organic material that can accumulate on your lawn over time.
“This thatch can make it difficult for new grass to grow, but using sugar on your lawn can help break it down and improve the health of your lawn.”;
Sugar also contains carbon which intakes excess nitrogen, and promotes a better balance in the soil, making your grass looks greener.
Lindsay added, that sugar can also be used to as an effective weed killer.
She said: ““Weeds tend to thrive in environments with access to sunlight and moisture, and by using sugar on your lawn, you can make it less hospitable for these weeds.”;
Sugar can be picked up from the supermarket for as little as 79p, so you won't have to pinch the pennies to try out this hack.
However, Bill Glaser, CEO of Outstanding Foods, a plant-based food company, has warned that gardeners should only use the hack in moderation.
He said: “Only use a sugar solution about once a month; some sources suggest replacing harsh fertilisers with rice water for more consistent application.”;
Experts also warn against using sugar if you live near the woods, as it promotes fungal growth, so could leave you with an excess of fungus.
To try out this hack, simply spread a pound of sugar per 10.5 square feet.
It's best to sprinkle on the sugar at the beginning of the day, and garden lovers should use a lawn spreader to make sure the sugar is distributed evenly.
The best type of sugar to put on your lawn is granulated or powdered sugar, which most people will already have lying around in the cupboard.
Another cheap hack you can use to improve the health of your lawn, is to over it.
Lawn Love explained: “Compost tea isn’t a warm drink to savour by the crackling fire. But your lawn (and your garden plants) would love to glug some down.
“According to the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, applying compost tea to the lawn helps spread beneficial microbes onto soil and plants.
“Compost tea also helps protect your turf from disease. The organisms in compost tea will consume available sources and help outcompete disease organisms.
“The homemade fertiliser increases soil water retention, too.”;
