M11 CLOSED after crash with drivers warned of massive queues and delays lasting up to an hour

A CRASH has seen drivers stuck in hour long queues on a major motorway.

The M11 was shut down at around 6.10am after a collision on the southbound lane near Saffron Walden.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “Lane 2 (of 2) is closed on the M11 southbound between J9 and J8 (Stansted Airport) due to a collision. Traffic officers and recovery are in attendance.

“There are long delays of at least 60 minutes above usual journey times on the approach.”

Traffic monitoring company Inrix added: “Long delays and one lane closed due to recovery work and accident on M11 Southbound after J9 (Saffron Walden). Congestion to J10 (Duxford).”
