M60 SHUTS due to crash sparking huge delays for 1,000s of drivers during rush hour & mile-long tailbacks

Published on April 17, 2025 at 06:54 AM

DRIVERS face long queues and rush-hour delays after a motorway, used by hundreds of thousands every day, has been shut.

Highway officers responded to an incident on the M56 going westbound near Manchester earlier today.

A lane has been closed on the M60 slip road as a result of the collision.

Motorists will likely be impacted during peak travel times and the rush hour commute.

Long tailbacks have already been spotted by traffic cameras with traffic piling up towards Denton Island.

A post from the Inrix traffic monitoring system said: “M60 clockwise lane closed on exit slip road, slow traffic due to accident at J4 M56.”
