A MAJOR A-road that joins onto Britain's busiest motorway is closing for the entire weekend.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead as the carriageway will be shut in both directions from 9pm on Friday to Monday morning.

The A3 which connects to the M25 will be shut this weekend causing havoc for those travelling around Milford, Wisley and .

Meanwhile, the M25 is also temporarily on Saturday for weather station replacement works from 10pm to 6am the following day.

Drivers should expect severe delays at the start of next week as the A3 Southbound from Hogs Back to Milford is closed for improvement works.

This weekend will also see thebetween junctions 39 and 40 from 10pm on Saturday to 6am on Sunday.

And on Monday, the M3 northbound from Junction 4a at the Minley Interchange to Junction 3 at Lightwater will be closed for “major improvement works”.

This follows a raft of road closures in the last week, which saw the M3 and M6 shut for maintenance works.

Project manager Edgar Vila Pouca thanked motorists at the time “for their patience”; and said a signed diversion would be implemented through the M3 junction 5 Spur Road, A30 Ringway and A30 Winchester Road.

He added: “I would urge anyone planning on travelling to allow extra time to complete their journey.”
