Man confesses to regularly supplying bandits “soft drinks” in Zamfara

Published on April 05, 2025 at 03:30 PM

Security personnel in Zamfara State have apprehended a man allegedly responsible for providing logistics support to armed bandits operating within the region.

The suspect, identified as Ashiru Jijji, was arrested by operatives of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards during a routine patrol in a high-risk area known for criminal activities.

According to a security source who requested anonymity, Jijji was intercepted while transporting cartons of soft drinks and other provisions believed to be destined for a group of bandits hiding in the forest.

“He was caught in the process of delivering the supplies. During initial questioning, he admitted that the items were meant for a specific bandit group he regularly services,”; the source revealed to Zagazola Makama

The suspect is currently in custody and will be transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Authorities say the arrest highlights the critical role of community-led security initiatives in disrupting the supply chains that sustain criminal networks in the state.
