Speaking afterwards, he hailed the Van Veen but admitted he would not be playing in the World Cup of Darts.
He told Dartsnews.com: “He’s a fantastic player and definitely someone to keep an eye on in the future.
“I won’t be part of the team this year â I’m on holiday.”
Van Gerwen continued to admit that it is possible that he may not return to the team in the future.
He added: “Maybe it’s an option in the future â but you never know what might happen.
“Maybe I’ll never play in the World Cup of Darts again.”;
As a result, the supporters in Frankfurt will miss out on watching Mighty Mike at the Eissporthalle.



The three-time world champion's absence will likely see the Dutch team made up of Danny Noppert, No.16, and Van Veen, No.23, based on the current rankings.
