Keen Morris dancer Emma, of Skelmersdale, Lancs, died in the crash more than 50 miles from home in Holt, Wrexham, as she was riding pillion.

The male rider was taken to hospital in Stoke with serious injuries.

Close family friend Angela Eadie said: “Our beloved friend Emma Hill was tragically killed in a road accident.

“She leaves behind her 3 devastated children Tia, Bailey and Sienna and we would like to raise funds towards the send off she really deserves to make this time easier on the family.

“Funds are being raised on behalf of her children Tia, Bailey and Sienna and will be used for funeral costs and day to day living costs (rent, food, bills) while they navigate this period. “

A GoFundMe campaign has now been launched in Emma's memory, with the fundraiser having already raised more than £6,000.

Angela said: “Emma has been a member of our dance family, Tanhouse Morris Dancers in Skelmersdale, for many years with both herself and her girls dancing for us. Emma would always do anything to help others and help the troupe.

“I don't believe Emma ever truly realised how far her kindness spread and how loved by so many she really was. The wave of sadness which has spread through our community is testament to this.

“I know her warmth and kindness helped so many both in Skelmersdale and in the Morris dancing world over the years, so lets all come together and support her family to get through this awful time. All money raised will go towards the funeral and anything else the family needs to get through this difficult time.”

Police launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward following the collision.

Sergeant Steve Richards of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and everyone involved. They are now being supported by specially trained officers.

“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can assist with our investigation, who has not already spoken to officers, is asked to get in touch as soon as possible. This includes anybody who may have been travelling along that particular stretch of road and who may have dash cam footage.”

A spokesperson said: “We have been informed by some of our colleagues that whilst dealing with a serious Road Traffic Collision (RTC) yesterday, Sunday 6th April 2025 in the Holt area of Wrexham, road users tried to ‘squeeze' past marked police vehicles that were being used to closed the road. The police vehicles have been parked there for a reason and haven't been parked there inconsiderately

“Police vehicles are often used to close roads in order to preserve areas so that further work can be carried out by other services and departments such as Ambulance, Fire, Drones and Forensic Collision Investigation Unit (FCIU) amongst others and there may be people walking about / equipment in the road which need to be kept safe.

“In addition, our vehicles are present until highways agencies or local councils can provide sufficient resources to close the road by other means (cones, signage, etc).”

They added: “We will remind you that failing to stop at a road closure and ignoring the directions given by officers may result in you being investigated for the offence of: Fail to stop a mechanically propelled vehicle when required by constable — contrary to section 163(3) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and Schedule 2 to the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988.”

In response on Facebook, one person said: “I don't understand how or why this thought would even be in someone's mind, There's either too many stupid people driving or too many people just don't care. Each is as dangerous as the other.”

Another added: “Hopefully those responsible will be dealt with according for their selfish decisions to pass through the closure but more importantly for not even sparing a thought for safety and those that could have been injured or receiving medical treatment at the scene. Give them a day in court to have the opportunity to explain their selfish and foolish actions.”

One driver said: “I arrived at the closed road just as police closed it, and saw people do this rather than turn round like myself and most of the people behind us. Absolutely shocking, thinking of those involved in the accident and their families.”
