I turned one bedroom into two with a cheap IKEA buy – now my daughter’s have their own space and privacy

Many siblings share bedrooms, which can often lead to arguments over space and their stuff being touched.

But one savvy mum has beat the system and shared how she turned without building a new wall.

Danielle Johnstone, from , took to social media to share her and how she split the room in two.

She said: “So here it is, our one that was split into two for our three girls who are 11, 4 and 1.”

The left-hand side of the room was her eldest daughter's space, and to the right was her youngest daughter's.

The room was split using an Kallax unit which costs £99.

Danielle used two of the units to create a larger divide for the rooms and provide her with more storage, as the unit has box inserts for organising items.

She was also lucky that the room had two built-in cupboards that acted as the girls' wardrobes and two windows on both sides that let lots of natural light in.

There was enough space for the girls to walk into their rooms and through the door, but Danielle put a curtain in the walkway so the younger girls wouldn't be woken by her other daughter if she was staying up late.

“This has lived up to everything that I hoped for,” she added.

“It has just given such a different feel in both .

“Although they're not huge, it literally does feel like two different bedrooms.”

“And all three of my girls are over the moon.”

The mum revealed that she had used brackets in the Kallax to secure them to each other, the floor and the walls to ensure there were no accidents.

The clip soon went viral on her TikTok account @daniellejohnstonex with over 314k views and 17k likes.

“Wow amazing well done guys. What a beautiful home,”; claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “Love it Danielle! what a transformation no wonder the girls are over the moon.”
