Chilling moment murder victim runs for his life from knife-wielding thug before tragically collapsing in alleyway

THIS is the chilling moment a murder victim ran for his life after being chased by a knife-wielding thug.

Gregory Marshall, 35, collapsed and died in an alleyway in York after he was stabbed in the neck and chest by Ian James Franklin.

Terrifying CCTV shows Gregory desperately attempting to flee Franklin.

Franklin then knifed the victim – causing him to stagger into an alley as his killers left him to die.

He has now been jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years after being convicted of .

Leeds Crown was told the horror unfolded over a £1,000 debt owed to Jason Daniel Rhodes by Franklin.

On August 17, 2024, Gregory and Rhodes visited Franklin's home – causing a fight to erupt on the street.

Gregory then attempted to run away followed by Rhodes as Franklin chased both men.

Franklin then stabbed Rhodes before knifing Gregory to death during the bloodbath attack.

Franklin fled the scene but was 16 hours later on suspicion of murder.

Rhodes was also arrested due to the weapon he had on him at the time.

He was sentenced to 55 weeks after pleading guilty to – a multi-tool with an axe head.

In a victim impact statement, Gregory's wife said: “Greg was very thoughtful and caring, very loving and funny. He had the loudest voice but the most infectious of laughs. He would just smile.

“Greg was the sort of person that if you met him once, you wouldn't be a friend just for the weekend, it would be the rest of your life.

“Since my husband has passed, it has ripped the family apart. There is no security anymore, no feeling safe. I feel empty, lost, I feel like I have been robbed.

“He was my partner, he was my friend, he was my husband and soulmate. I adored him, I would do anything for him. He would do the same for me.”
